Yelkenci, do\u011faya kar\u015f\u0131 gelmek yerine, elinde ki teknolojiyi kullanarak, onu y\u00f6nlendirmenin keyfini ya\u015far. Bunu yaparken \u00e7o\u011fu zaman bir tak\u0131m\u0131n i\u00e7indedir. Yar\u0131\u015f yelkencili\u011fi ise yelken sporunun tepe noktas\u0131d\u0131r. Ekip uyumu ve herkesin g\u00f6revini en iyi \u015fekilde yapmas\u0131, teknenin performans\u0131n\u0131 ve h\u0131z\u0131n\u0131 artt\u0131r\u0131r, dolay\u0131s\u0131yla elde edilecek derecenin en iyisinin ger\u00e7ekle\u015fmesini sa\u011flar. Yar\u0131\u015f yelkencisi bilgi, yetenek ve deneyiminin yan\u0131 s\u0131ra her an dikkatli ve tetikte olmak zorundad\u0131r. Parkurda bulunan Bodrum Deniz Kurtarma ekibinin botlar\u0131 olaya h\u0131zla m\u00fcdahale ederek, yaral\u0131y\u0131 k\u0131y\u0131da bulunan ambulansa oradan da hastaneye olabildi\u011fince h\u0131zl\u0131 yeti\u015ftirmemi\u015f olsayd\u0131, olay muhtemelen \u00e7ok \u00fcz\u00fcc\u00fc bir yar\u0131\u015f haberi olarak bas\u0131na yans\u0131yacakt\u0131.<\/p><p align=\"justify\">Yelken yar\u0131\u015flar\u0131n\u0131 teknelerin \u00f6zelliklerine g\u00f6re ba\u015fl\u0131ca 2 ana guruba ay\u0131rabiliriz. \u0130lk gurup yar\u0131\u015flar; birbiriyle tamamen e\u015f plan ve malzeme ile \u00fcretilmi\u015f, ayn\u0131 boy ve a\u011f\u0131rl\u0131kta olan teknelerin yar\u0131\u015flar\u0131d\u0131r. Olimpiyatlarda yer alan ve \u201c<em><strong>center boat<\/strong><\/em>\u201d genel tan\u0131m\u0131 ile an\u0131lan de\u011fi\u015fik s\u0131n\u0131flarda yap\u0131lan bu t\u00fcr yar\u0131\u015flarda ki tekneler, boy ve \u00f6zelliklerine g\u00f6re <em><strong>optimist, laser, 470, pirat<\/strong> <\/em>gibi farkl\u0131 isimler al\u0131rlar. Bu t\u00fcre giren yar\u0131\u015flarda, fini\u015f s\u0131ralamas\u0131 ayn\u0131 zamanda yar\u0131\u015f\u0131n da sonucudur.<\/p><p align=\"justify\">\u0130kinci gurupta yar\u0131\u015fan teknelerin gerek dizayn ve malzemeleri gerekse boy ve a\u011f\u0131rl\u0131klar\u0131 birbirinden farkl\u0131 olabilmektedir. Ancak b\u00f6ylesi yar\u0131\u015flara kat\u0131lan teknelerin her birinin ayr\u0131 ayr\u0131; boylar\u0131, a\u011f\u0131rl\u0131klar\u0131, yelken b\u00fcy\u00fckl\u00fckleri ve hatta ya\u015flar\u0131 g\u00f6z \u00f6n\u00fcne al\u0131narak, karma\u015f\u0131k bir hesaplama ile elde edilen bir \u201c<em><strong>rating<\/strong><\/em>\u201d puanlar\u0131 vard\u0131r. Bu t\u00fcr teknelerin kat\u0131ld\u0131\u011f\u0131 yar\u0131\u015flarda sonu\u00e7lar\u0131n belirlenmesi; teknenin rating katsay\u0131s\u0131 ile teknenin fini\u015f zaman\u0131n\u0131n \u00e7arp\u0131m\u0131 sonucunda ortaya \u00e7\u0131kar. K\u0131saca rating de\u011feri y\u00fcksek olan bir tekne, yar\u0131\u015f\u0131 ilk olarak bitirmi\u015f olsa bile, hakemlerin hesaplamalar\u0131 sonras\u0131nda a\u00e7\u0131klanan ve d\u00fczeltilmi\u015f zaman denilen, fini\u015f zaman\u0131 belirlendi\u011finde birincilikten \u00e7ok daha gerilerde derece alm\u0131\u015f olabilir. Bir teknenin rating katsay\u0131s\u0131; Uluslararas\u0131 Yar\u0131\u015f Komitesi (International Racing Committe, IRC) taraf\u0131ndan kabul g\u00f6rm\u00fc\u015f ki\u015filer ve y\u00f6ntemlerle yap\u0131lan \u00f6l\u00e7\u00fcm sonucu belirlenmektedir.<\/p><p align=\"justify\">Her iki gruba giren tekneler, \u015famand\u0131ralar ile belirlenen parkur yar\u0131\u015flar\u0131 yapabildi\u011fi gibi \u201c<strong>off shore<\/strong>\u201d denilen a\u00e7\u0131k deniz yar\u0131\u015flar\u0131 da yapmaktad\u0131r. A\u00e7\u0131k deniz yar\u0131\u015flar\u0131 aras\u0131nda g\u00fcnler hatta aylarca s\u00fcren \u00e7ok uzun soluklu yar\u0131\u015flar bulunmaktad\u0131r.<\/p><p align=\"justify\">Yelken sporu verdi\u011fi hazz\u0131n yan\u0131 s\u0131ra, ta\u015f\u0131d\u0131\u011f\u0131 ki\u015fili\u011fi ve kendine g\u00fcven duygusunu geli\u015ftirici \u00f6zelli\u011fi nedeniyle \u00f6zellikle \u00e7ocuklar i\u00e7in \u00f6nerilmektedir. Optimistine atlay\u0131p denize a\u00e7\u0131lan bir \u00e7ocuk art\u0131k yaln\u0131zd\u0131r ve yapmas\u0131 gerekenler ile ilgili tek karar verici kendisidir. Bunun sonucu ald\u0131\u011f\u0131 derecenin sorumlusu tamamen kendisi olmaktad\u0131r.<\/p><p align=\"justify\">\u00dclkemizde yelken sporu son y\u0131llarda pop\u00fclarite kazanmaya ba\u015flam\u0131\u015f, 7 den 70 e bir \u00e7ok ki\u015fi e\u011fitim almak \u00fczere gittik\u00e7e \u00e7o\u011falan yelken okullar\u0131nda ki kurslara ko\u015far olmu\u015ftur. Tekne sahibi olmay\u0131 bir yana b\u0131rak\u0131rsak, \u00f6zellikle yaz aylar\u0131nda yap\u0131lacak yelken sporu i\u00e7in g\u00f6ze al\u0131nacak maliyet di\u011fer sporlara g\u00f6re \u00e7ok b\u00fcy\u00fck bir fark g\u00f6stermez. Kurs \u00fccreti yan\u0131nda gerekli olan yelkenci k\u0131yafeti; bir mayo, bir ti\u015fort, bir havlu belki fazladan bir eldivenden \u00f6teye gitmez. Ancak k\u0131\u015f aylar\u0131nda durum biraz farkl\u0131l\u0131k g\u00f6stermektedir. S\u00fcrekli \u0131slak bir ortamda, so\u011fuk esen k\u0131\u015f r\u00fczgarlar\u0131nda fiziksel sa\u011fl\u0131\u011f\u0131m\u0131z korumam\u0131z\u0131 sa\u011flayacak giysilerin maliyetleri olduk\u00e7a y\u00fcksektir.<\/p><p align=\"justify\"><strong>D\u00fcnyada ve T\u00fcrkiye\u2019de Yelken Yar\u0131\u015flar\u0131<\/strong><\/p><p align=\"justify\">D\u00fcnyada yap\u0131lan ilk yelken yar\u0131\u015flar\u0131n\u0131, korsan gemilerini kovalad\u0131ktan sonra d\u00f6nen Hollandal\u0131 gemicilerin kendi aralar\u0131nda yapt\u0131klar\u0131 s\u00f6yleniyor olsa da bilinen ilk organize yelkenli yat yar\u0131\u015f\u0131 1660 y\u0131l\u0131nda \u0130ngiltere k\u0131y\u0131s\u0131nda, d\u00fczenlenmi\u015ftir. Zaman\u0131n \u0130ngiltere kral\u0131 II. Charles ve York D\u00fck\u00fc aras\u0131nda ger\u00e7ekle\u015fen bu yar\u0131\u015f olduk\u00e7a ilgi \u00e7ekmi\u015f olsa gerek. \u0130lk yelken seri yar\u0131\u015flar\u0131 (trofe) ise Galler\u2019de 1749 y\u0131l\u0131nda yap\u0131lmaya ba\u015flanm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. G\u00fcn\u00fcm\u00fcze kadar devam eden en eski yelken trofesi ise America\u2019s Cup yar\u0131\u015flar\u0131d\u0131r. \u0130lk kez 22 A\u011fustos 1851 tarihinde, \u0130ngiltere\u2019de d\u00fczenlendi\u011finde Hundred Guineas ad\u0131yla an\u0131lan ve t\u00fcm d\u00fcnya yelkencilerine a\u00e7\u0131k olan yar\u0131\u015f\u0131, ayn\u0131 y\u0131l New York Yat Kul\u00fcb\u00fc \u00fcyesi 5 yelkencinin kulland\u0131\u011f\u0131 \u201cAmerica\u201d adl\u0131 tekne kazan\u0131yor. B\u00f6ylelikle t\u00fcm d\u00fcnya yelkencilerinin sayg\u0131 ve heyecanla and\u0131\u011f\u0131 \u201c<em>America\u2019s Cup<\/em>&#8221; ba\u015flam\u0131\u015f oluyordu.<\/p><p align=\"justify\">Yelkenin uluslararas\u0131 kabul g\u00f6rm\u00fc\u015f bir spora d\u00f6n\u00fc\u015fmesi ise, 1900 y\u0131l\u0131nda Paris Olimpiyatlar\u0131\u2019nda yerine almas\u0131 sonras\u0131nda ortaya \u00e7\u0131kar. O y\u0131llarda birbirine e\u015f tekne say\u0131s\u0131n\u0131n \u00e7ok az olmas\u0131, farkl\u0131 yap\u0131da ki teknelerin e\u015fit \u015fartlarda yar\u0131\u015fmas\u0131n\u0131 sa\u011flayacak kurallar\u0131n ortaya \u00e7\u0131kmas\u0131n\u0131 gerektirdi. Rating rule denilen \u00f6l\u00e7me kurallar\u0131 1906 y\u0131l\u0131nda kabul edilirken, hemen bir y\u0131l sonras\u0131nda IYRU, International Yacht Racing Union (Uluslararas\u0131 Yat Yar\u0131\u015f Birli\u011fi) kurularak ayn\u0131 y\u0131l kabul edilen yar\u0131\u015f t\u00fcz\u00fc\u011f\u00fc ile de, bu konuda otorite birli\u011fi sa\u011flanm\u0131\u015f oluyordu. T\u00fcrkiye dahil doksan\u0131 a\u015fk\u0131n \u00fcyesi olan birlik, 1996 y\u0131l\u0131nda, d\u00fcnyada ki di\u011fer spor te\u015fkilatlar\u0131na uyum sa\u011flamak amac\u0131yla, ismini ISAF, International Sailing Federation (Uluslararas\u0131 Yelken Federasyonu) olarak de\u011fi\u015ftirdi.<\/p><p align=\"justify\">\u00dc\u00e7 taraf\u0131 denizlerle \u00e7evrili T\u00fcrkiye\u2019de, 16. y\u00fczy\u0131ldan itibaren yelkenli tekneler kullan\u0131l\u0131yor olsa da yelkenin spor olarak kabul g\u00f6rmesi olduk\u00e7a ge\u00e7 olmu\u015ftur. D\u00fcnyada ilk yelken kul\u00fcb\u00fc 1700 l\u00fc y\u0131llarda, T\u00fcrkiye\u2019de ise 1890 l\u0131 y\u0131llar\u0131n sonunda ortaya \u00e7\u0131kar. O y\u0131llarda \u0130stanbul\u2019da ya\u015fayan Levantenlerin kendi aralar\u0131nda yapt\u0131klar\u0131 yar\u0131\u015flar ile ba\u015flayan yelken sporu, varl\u0131kl\u0131 T\u00fcrk aileler taraf\u0131ndan benimsenince, ard\u0131 arkas\u0131na yelken kul\u00fcpleri kurulmaya ba\u015flan\u0131r; Prinkipo, Makrik\u00f6y ve Moda Yelken Kul\u00fcpleri\u2026<\/p><p align=\"justify\">Bu kul\u00fcplerce d\u00fczenlenen yar\u0131\u015flar, 1914 de ba\u015flayan Birinci D\u00fcnya Sava\u015f\u0131\u2019na kadar artan yo\u011funlukta devam eder. Ancak sava\u015f y\u0131llar\u0131 yelken sporuna b\u00fcy\u00fck ket vurur ve t\u00fcm etkinlikler durur. Sava\u015f sonras\u0131 T\u00fcrkiye Cumhuriyeti\u2019nin kuruldu\u011fu 1923 y\u0131l\u0131; yelken, k\u00fcrek ve y\u00fczme dallar\u0131n\u0131 kapsayan Su Sporlar\u0131 Federasyonu\u2019nun kurulmas\u0131 ile birlikte yar\u0131m kalan faaliyetler yeniden ba\u015flar. Zaman i\u00e7inde yelken sporuna beklenen \u00f6nem verilmeye ba\u015flan\u0131r. T\u00fcrkiye, 1932 y\u0131l\u0131nda IYRU, International Yacht Racing Union (Uluslararas\u0131 Yat Yar\u0131\u015f Birli\u011fi) \u00fcyeli\u011fi i\u00e7in ba\u015fvurur ve kabul edilir.
